What is sexual assault?
Sexual assault is any unwanted sexual contact or activity that occurs without your consent, whether it is someone you know or a stranger. If you did not agree to it or could not give consent, it is sexual assault.

Adults Abused as Children
Individuals facing the affects of childhood sexual abuse during adulthood.
Adult Survivors of Sexual Assault
Individuals who are seeking help after an assault in their adulthood at any point in time.
Adult Survivors of Sex Trafficking
Adults who have experienced sexual exploitation at any point in their life.

The 24/7 hotline is available 365 days a year to provide crisis support and information on services/options for survivors. The hotline is free and confidential.

Adults may choose to undergo a forensic medical exam (FME) to collect evidence within 120 hours of a sexual assault under certain circumstances. The FME is a comprehensive head-to-toe assessment to document injuries associated with assault and collect forensic samples.
This exam also provides options for emergency contraception and referrals for sexually transmitted infection (STI) treatment.
Harmony House advocates are available to accompany individuals and provide emotional support during both the exam and any follow-up medical appointments.

Adults have the option of reporting a sexual assault to law enforcement with the support of a Harmony House advocate. If the case is prosecuted, an advocate can continue to accompany the survivor to all meetings and court proceedings with the District Attorney’s Office.

Harmony House offers counseling to all survivors of sexual assault as well as off-site referrals. Harmony House strives to provide therapeutic treatment free of charge to all clients.

We understand that rebuilding after trauma involves many different areas of life. Our advocates can help connect you with external organizations and programs to assist with mental health services, legal advocacy, housing, and basic needs.

Multidisciplinary Teams (MDT)
At Harmony House adult sexual assault cases work through a multidisciplinary team (MDT) just like our child abuse cases.
MDT is a collaborative group of professionals who coordinate the response sexual assault reports.
Because every situation is unique, a tailored team of specific specialists is assembled to support each victims distinct needs. These professionals collaborate throughout the process to coordinate services and support, while the broader MDT meets monthly to review case progress and help ensure victims receive consistent, coordinated care.

Meets monthly and assist survivors in healing and coping with the effects of the sexual assault.Victims gain strength from one another.Survivors will find this group to be a safe place to gain skills to help them move toward recovery. Prior registration is necessary to attend, call (706) 245-8700.

Elderly and Vulnerable Adult Sexual Assault is a crime committed against those 55 and older and those adults of any age who are considered vulnerable because of disability.
These crimes can be very hard to identify due to embarrassment or inability to disclose this crime by victims.
Harmony House works to assist these victims with specialized care. Harmony House also speaks to community groups, agencies and organizations about identifying, reporting and responding to these special victims.
